In Memory of Glory 源平咲き
In my neighborhood, there is a peach tree with both pink and white flowers.
We call the blooming as 'Genpei-Saki' .
The naming comes from the old history of Japan.
'Gen' means 'Genji', a clan with white flags.
'Pei' means 'Heike', a clan with red flags.
They were famous families who competed for the glory of an era.
源平咲きのハナモモが今年も開花した。
遠い歴史を偲ばせる不思議な花。
しばし足を止めて初春を楽しむ。
